Electrocoin made the most of a busy ACOS 2024 this year, with the new Bar X Diamond Tickets three-player machine causing a real stir alongside big hitters such as Spinning Cyclone and DDR20 Plus. Speaking to Coinslot, Sales & Marketing Manager John A Stergides explained how evaluation, experience and investment led to such a strong portfolio.

“There was very good footfall,” said John A Stergides as he surveyed the ILEC exhibition hall. “Aside from the show immediately post-pandemic, I think the first day was one of the busiest ACOS that I’ve been a part of in the past seven or eight years. I think that’s a very positive sign.”

Very positive indeed, especially in the current legislatory climate, Stergides considered. “Though there is a lot of uncertainty, it also shows that people are thinking about the year ahead, and wanting to get on with it.”

That drive and determination to get back to business was helped by Electrocoin’s impressive portfolio of products, including the Bar X Diamond Tickets three-player machine, which debuted at the show following a sensational summer of on-site testing.

“It’s a re-imagining of Bar X, which you still find up and down the country. They still have a good strong following, and the simplicity of the game makes it attractive to players. People really engaged with Bar X combined with the ticket redemption element.”

Elsewhere on the stand, the Spinning Cyclone was “very well-received,” while Konami’s DDR20 Plus – for which Electrocoin has secured a small extra production – continued to attract considerable attention.

“Everyone knows what they’re getting in terms of quality, reliability and longevity, especially as it’s the only one with licences. That’s why they love it, you can still find the ones that we sold 20 years ago still operating in arcades.”

Other games such as Hot Slots also proved popular, alongside the Rocket Launch and Magic 7 Key, and auxiliary machines such as the Intercard cashless system and Galileo ticket eaters.

“Overall there was a very good spirit at the show,” added Stergides. “Like everyone, we were waiting to hear what the government was planning to do. I think everyone expects the worst anyway, in terms of the giveaways they were doing, but for our industries it’s one of those things. As in the past, we just have to wait to see what happens.”

“We’re a resourceful industry that always has to adapt, and people are always going to want to enjoy leisure. So hopefully that will be kept in mind. We just accept that you’ve got to get on with it, and that’s what we do. Once we know, we evaluate and adjust the strategy as needed.”
