Electrocoin’s John A Stergides has promised customers “a few surprises” at EAG 2025 this year alongside a range of brand new titles that expand on proven successes, such as Mr Do Football Frenzy, Stern’s Dungeons and Dragons pinball, and one or two new concepts that “may provide a trip down memory lane.” (Electrocoin EAG 2025).
Coinslot: This year is an important EAG with new gambling regulations and legislation on the horizon. What are you hoping to get from January’s show?
John A Stergides: I think, like every exhibitor, we are hoping for a busy but successful show.
Coinslot: here will be a great deal of emphasis on new launches at ExCeL. Can you give us an idea of what new innovations the visitors will be seeing on your stand on 14-16 January?
John A Stergides: We will be launching several new games on our stand this year, including the new Mr Do Football Frenzy.
There will also be a few surprises within the prize out, video game and ticket redemption area that will be sure to excite operators for the coming year ahead. Some may provide a trip down memory lane, but we look forward to displaying these.
EAG will also be the European launch of Stern’s latest pinball Dungeons and Dragons: The Tyrant’s Eye. It will be exclusive to the Electrocoin stand – despite a limited timeframe, we have been able to air freight a Pro and Premium Edition especially for EAG.
We are very excited to be able to launch Stern’s latest pinball on our stand. It’s a huge license and there is already great excitement and anticipation from players to try the game.
The Pro and Premium edition will be on display with three other of Stern Pinball’s recent titles: John Wick, Venom and Foo Fighters. They will be connected online, and compatible for players to link to their Stern Insider account for the full experience.
Coinslot: We obviously expect to see your best sellers and the reliable favourites on display. What products were pulling up the trees during 2024 and how did they perform in venues last year?
John A Stergides: A particular highlight of the year was DDRA20 Plus, the king of dance games. With only a limited number of units available, it’s a crowd-pulling feature for operators and venues.
Magic 7 Key and Rocket Launch were very popular and successful for us in 2024 and continued to be leaders in coin-op for this style of prize out games.
Another success, following its extensive testing, is the all-new BAR X Diamond Ticket Redemption three player game. This game combines the beloved BAR-X brand with the growing trend for ticket redemption games, making it an exciting addition for operators looking to maximize player engagement. It’s also the only ticket style reel based game with a community feature, which makes it even more of a stand out performer.
Additionally, the Spinning Cyclone has begun gaining momentum as something different, and is proving popular with players and operators.
Coinslot: One final question on the Gambling Review: what do you need from the government’s gambling review, and indeed from their general policies this year?
John A Stergides: It doesn’t seem to be that much is changing except extra taxes, which don’t help our businesses. I think it will be a tough year ahead, but we have to remain positive and will continue to bring innovation as we continue expanding the world of play.
We need the introduction of new games with entertainment factor, like multiplayer horse racing and car racing, as playing together helps create a feeling of community while socialising at a low stakes and prizes level – like the concept of the B5 which had been proposed by the Gambling Commission to help the industry, and was nearly approved by the previous DCMS.
And also I’d like to see new stakes and prizes for Cat C and higher prizes for B3, but also for those games which offer skill and small prizes or tickets not to require permits. This way games like cranes and redemption titles can encourage manufacturing and new concepts and innovations in the leisure premises.
