After receiving delivery of Konami’s Dance Dance Revolution A last week, Electrocoin has begun sending out the unit to FECs across the country.

The company first had the original Dance Dance Revolution in its warehouse nearly 20 years ago – a game that still proves effective in arcades today. John Anthony Stergides explained that while there has been updated versions since then, the market has been waiting for a new machine for several years.

“It’s exciting to finally have the latest DDRA in the UK – it’s been over seven years since the release of DDRX2 and the market has been crying out for a new version,” explained Stergides.

“Operators are just as excited, as although the older models are a good source of income, they are becoming harder to maintain and players want the new version. DDRA appeals to the casual player but also has very loyal following from fans who are eager to play the new version. Just have a look online and you can see how big of a fanbase it has, and all the talk at the moment is about the latest version – DDRA, which has finally arrived in the UK and Europe.”

Along with updates to the aesthetic of Konami’s new dance machine, there is a vast array of recent songs and music videos from mainstream artists, as well as a new practice mode for players less familiar with the concept.

“One of the biggest features is that it has around 600 songs, which includes mainstream songs like ‘Happy’ from Pharrell and ‘Break me’ from Ariana Grande, as well as artists like One Direction. For some songs, players can even dance to official footage from their music videos,” concluded Stergides.

“Aside from the new songs, there is also a back catalogue from previous DDR libraries – it really is extensive and will keep players entertained for a long time. The game also includes a new dance practice mode for new players to help them familiarise with the dance floor panel, which will enhance their experience on the new all-metal floor. DDRA also has a higher standard monitor than its predecessors, increasing in size from 37” up to 42”.”
